MARGUTTI 2008
From 7th to 9th March
The second training race of the season 2008 is getting closer, the 19th edition of the Margutti Trophy is around the corner. This will be the last time that the Margutti will take place in Parma and actually our Team is really excited at the thought that the fantastic track in Parma will end this way its long and great history.
Our Racing Team worked really hard to get ready for this event: all our drivers, determined as never before, went down to the track and made an intense test session.
Considering the race of next Sunday, the Team worked hard especially to bring the last details to perfection but however there are many other technical news that need to be improved.
The presence of all our drivers allowed us to take into consideration a lot of different possible set-up, relying on the opinion of every single driver.
Such a hard work has been planned for a long time and the marching list was perfectly respected by our Team staff, in fact the day before the Margutti Marco Ardigò was still on the track, in France, to test the tyres.
Even after the race on Sunday our tireless drivers will not have a break, the first race of the WSK is really near and the way to the track in Muro Leccese is long.
The nice memory of the wonderful triple win of last year, when the KF1 podium was completely green, is faraway however this is also a spur to repeat that great performance also in the last international race on the track San Pancrazio in Parma.
On Friday morning, with the official tests, the 19th Margutti Trophy will begin with a detailed plan that will climax with the drivers presentation at 13:00 and with the super finals: start at 15:00 with KF3, followed by KF2 at 16:00, then KF1 will close the day at 17:00.
Giacomo Aliprandi - Team Manager- Tony Kart Racing Team
“Our work programme is proceeding well, we did some tests in Parma last week, this week Marco worked hard in France for Bridgestone test, the Margutti is getting closer and then…without any break we have to leave for the first race of the WSK in Lecce.
I think that it is possible to coordinate and carry out this programme in an operative way only if the whole Team will work well together, everyone Knows exactly which is his task and all the organisation is well coordinated. So we are respecting all the points of our plan with great precision.
As regards the race on Sunday, we still consider it as a test for the next most important international events of the season”.

Marco Ardigò – Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“The CRG will not be present at the race on Sunday because they want to carry out the tests in France in a better way, and also other teams will not be there…so, the Margutti Trophy is an event by itself, for this reason it is a test race, like the Winter Cup, and it is not possible to draw conclusions regarding the season.
Of course our material is good, at the Winter Cup everything went well both in KF1 and in KF2, so we could do an excellent season also this year.
We are concentrating both on the material development, doing the Bridgestone tests during these days, and on next Sunday race, in order to gain the best results.”

Gary Catt- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“Last year I won in Parma and of course I’d like to do the same this year, also because the track will close and that’s why this Margutti is special.
It is important to do a good performance considering also the WSK, starting next week: from that moment we will start racing seriously, in a Championship divided into different races.”

Will Stevens- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“Last year in Parma I arrived 2nd and I would like to win this year for the first time, just in the last race in Parma”. |
Mathias Laine- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“I am in a very good form and I could reach great results” |
Oliver Rowland- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF2 category
“We worked hard during the tests in Parma last week and I had the possibility to improve my knowledge of the material and the track. It will be an important week-end for me and I want to create a good impression and speed up my integration with the team. Here I feel very good, the material is excellent and I immediately want to show my ability…already in Parma.” |
Petri Suvanto- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF2 category
“We worked hard for the Margutti Trophy and I’m confident for the WSK. It will be important to start racing well in the rounds. At the Winter Cup I didn’t manage to. The performances are good and the material is excellent, this is why we can reach great results.” |
