TONY KART RACING TEAM
2008 European Championship
1st round Angerville (F)
From 2nd to 4th May
QUADRA SPORTS AND THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP ARE AMONG THE SEVERAL TONY KART RACING TEAM APPOINTMENTS
Last week our drivers took part in the usual Quadra Sports training. From the 21st to the 23rd of April our drivers attended seminars of marketing, media and communication and were subjected to psycho-physical tests.
During these seminars, the young Tony Kart drivers, led by Ange Pasquali Team, had the possibility to learn different communication and marketing strategies and new methods of training, these are extremely important elements for their professional growth and for their agonistic future.
The most expert drivers could improve their knowledge too thanks to the seminars of Quadra Sports, which is a great Tony Kart partner since several seasons.
This week will finish with the beginning of the European Championship for the KF1,KZ1, KZ2 categories, in which our drivers will be protagonists again especially Marco Ardigò and Gary Catt, respectively 2007 Champion and vice-Champion for the KF1 category, in fact they will fight to keep their champion titles.
Among the antagonists who will fight for the victory, there will be also Will Stevens and Matias Laine.
On the other hand, with regards to the shifter category, Davide Gaggianesi has gained further experience during this month, after his return to the agonistic scene. Also Andrea Benedetti had the possibility to take part in the tests in Mariembourg together with the whole team.
Our team is ready to be protagonist , as always, in both categories: KF1 and KZ1.
Giacomo Aliprandi - Tony Kart Racing Team Team Manager
“ The European Championship will start on a track where, in occasion of the WSK, we did well until when the weather became awful. In the last month we worked really hard, both on the track and in the race department, we have planned the next events, which are one closed to the other, in order to be ready for all the situations.
Marco Ardigò - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“I hope to start well, since in the last years when I won the European title I started well already from the first race, so I hope to have the possibility to make up for the first races of this year: in fact in the Winter Cup, at the Margutti Trophy and in the first round of the WSK in Muro Leccese, for several reasons, I didn’t reach the results I wanted, even if I had a good speed. So, I hope to be in the first positions, as always. During the tests in Mariembourg we went well, as always, we tested the tires and we know the material well. I’m ready for the race as always and I’m not worried for the track conditions in case of rain, I have always did well also on the wet track and if the weather condition will not be good I will always try to do my best.”
Will Stevens - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“The next weekend I will take part in my first European Championship in KF1. Until now I did well during the races of the WSK Championship, so I think that we could have good results also in the European Championship, of course, in order to win the Championship, it will be very important to reach good results starting from the first race.
The three days that we spent with Quadra Sport were really interesting and useful because we learned many things about the race world and also something which is different from the competition on the track, this is very important for a young driver.
I’m very happy for the agreement with Honda, it is an extremely important step for my career. It is a great team and I will have the possibility to be part of it in order to arrive, one day in the future, in Formula One.”
Gary Catt - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“This is the third consecutive year that I have had the possibility to attend the Quadra Sport seminars, they are always very interesting and useful to improve the abilities and the career of a driver. During these meetings with the experts of Quadra I had the possibility to repeat some concepts and so to memorize them well in order to do well during the next season.
With regards to the European Championship which is beginning, I hope to win this year since the last year I arrived second.
The next weekend will be quite difficult because the weather conditions in Angerville were not good in the last period. The last race in Angerville was characterized by awful weather conditions, but I hope that in the next weekend we will race on a dry track.
We get good information from the test that we did in Mariembourg, they were positive and so I hope to be fast also in the first race of the European Championship.”
Matias Laine - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1 category
“The first race of the European Championship will be in Angerville, I like that track very much, but the weather conditions are usually not very good there. I hope that the weather will be better than the one we found during the WSK race.
We spent three really instructive days with Quadra Sport and I had a lot of fun. It was hard but I learned a lot of things which will be very important for my future in the motorsport.”
Andrea Benedetti - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KZ1 category
“The training with Quadra Sport has been extremely interesting and I had the possibility to consider some important aspects that, as official driver, I have to keep in mind.
With regards to the European race I’m sure to bring good results to the team, we have everything on our disposal, the material is perfect and I’m happy to be in this team.”
Davide Gaggianesi - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KZ1 category
“I hope to do well in the first race of the European Championship, I have many expectations because this will be my first really important race. I was competitive already at the WSK, so I think there will not be great problems of speed, I hope to have gained some more experience for the bagarre that there is in the KZ class.
We did the tests in Mariembourg and I was competitive and fast, also in comparison with my team mates, so I’m confident.
With these performances I could step on the podium, but I have to do my best.
I worked hard in order to improve the starts, and I have improved them but I still have to gain more experience, however for the moment it is important to start well without losing too many positions.” |
