3rd Round – South Garda Track (BS)

DOUBLE WIN FOR TONY KART-VORTEX IN KF2 WITH SUVANTO AND ROWLAND

In the third round of the WSK Series Petri Suvanto and Oliver Rowland gained a great double win in both races.
In the pre-final our drivers stood out with a splendid progression, and gained the victory overtaking in the last lap.
In the final Petri and Oliver fought one against the other for the victory, but their positions never changed, they both were driving two perfect karts.
In KF1, the final was characterized by numerous contacts making the use of the “slow” procedure necessary, lasting several laps.
At the end of the day who is leading the Championship is still our young driver Will Stevens.

KF2 - Our drivers gained the 6th time (Suvanto) and the 7th (Rowland) in the qualifying of the respective groups. In the heats the drivers tried to find the perfect set-up of their karts and the performances improved round after round. At the end of the heats Suvanto got the third line, winning also one and Rowland was 12th.
At the pre-final starting both our drivers found the right way and got in 6th and in 7th position. After the first testing laps Petri started a great progression overtaking, one after the other, Hauke, Johanson, “Giaguaro Nero” and Foster Jones.
Oliver got ably behind his team-mate and in the last lap, at the end of a great recover, both our drivers ended the race in the first two positions.
At the final starting the green line was broken from some rivals. Suvanto was faster and got in first position, Rowland was overtaken by Hauke and Smarrazzo.
However already at the second lap the couple Suvanto-Rowland regained the first positions, our young British driver overtook two rivals and got behind his team-mates.
The end of the race was extremely exciting and full of suspense, Oliver was very closed to Petri and was waiting the right moment to overtake him, the two karts were perfect and both drivers didn’t make any mistakes. The check flag gained the victory to Tony Kart-Vortex colours with Petri Suvanto, moreover both our drivers are still leading the rating.

KF1 – The Tony Kart Racing Team’s race started  with the 4th and the 5th lap time of Will Stevens and Marco Ardigò in the spectacular Super Pole, it is a challenge among the ten best drivers, who fight in order to gain the first positions in one lap only.
Our driver Stevens got the first line in the pre-final. Will, driving a perfect kart from the qualifying, didn’t make any mistake and won two rounds.
Ardigò gained the second line, Catt gained the fifth line after an unlucky qualifying phase, in fact Gary was forced to stay in the last positions due to a damage.
The pre-final was a fight, the drivers changed their positions many times, Stevens was forced to recover after a contact in the second lap. At the end of the first final our drivers, Ardigò and Stevens, arrived 4th and 5th. The final was characterized by many contacts making necessary the “slow” procedure, which influenced the race. After the nine “slow” laps the race started again and Will Stevens did a great recover, in fact from the 6Th position, in a few laps, arrived among the first positions and started a fight with the French driver Guignet.
During the overtaking, in the 18th lap, Stevens was trying to gain the second position but he was involved in a contact  by a rival, who was behind him, and went into a tailspin.
Marco Ardigò was involved in a contact too, he was fighting for the podium when a rival tried to overtake him, with a risky manoeuvring.
Matias Laine, in comparison to his team mates, had the better result in the bagarre of this race, in fact he  finished the race in 5th position.

AFTER THE RACE
Giacomo Aliprandi - Tony Kart Racing Team, Team Manager
“The KF2 race doesn’t need further comments, it went in the best way, our drivers did well and didn’t made any mistakes, fighting really closed one to the other.
The KF1 was influenced by many contacts. We were among the potential winners, we had competitive karts and unfortunately, some episodes penalized us.
This week we will be on the track again, we have to train for the next races: World Cup and Mariembourg.”

Petri Suvanto - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF2 -  winner 3rd round
“I was leading the race since the first lap and I was aware that I had to keep that speed in order to win.
At the end of the race, when I saw my team mate Oliver arriving behind me, I went faster because I knew that he had the same material and this was really dangerous. I wasn’t nervous, but I know that Oliver is a great driver and so I was extremely concentrated.
I would like to thank my mechanic and all the team for the great work they did”.

Oliver Rowland - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF2
“The starting wasn’t excellent, I lost some position in the first bends, but then I could recover reaching Suvanto. I reached Petri at the end of the race, I was thinking to be faster than him, on the contrary I couldn’t overtake him, but I am satisfied, all the same.
It was a positive week-end, I gained several points and so I continue the championship hoping to win the title.”

Will Stevens - driver Tony Kart Racing Team categoria KF1 leader della WSK Series
“It was a very strange week-end, because we started really well, I led in the qualification race, I arrived fourth in the super pole, in the heats I was in the first positions, I was thinking to be ready for the race and to have a good chassis balance.
In the pre-final, during the second lap at the third bend I had an accident and I lost many positions.
I had to fight in order to recover positions and I did well since, at the end of the race, I had a good rhythm.
In the final I was 5th , I did a good starting and I got in 4th position. After that there has been a great accident and was necessary the “Slow” procedure, which lasted for 9 laps…a big part of the race.
When we start again to race, all the drivers were staying on the defensive…I had a contact with another driver , it was a pity because we had the right speed to win the race.
The chassis, at the end, was perfect and it’s a pity that we hadn’t gain a good result.
However I’m always first in the Championship rating, it is strange, but in the end it wasn’t such a  negative week-end.”

Gary Catt - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1
“In the qualifying race it didn’t went well because we had some problems, so in the heats I started from the back and I arrived seventh and tenth.
It seemed that everything was going well but today I started tenth in pre-final and it was difficult for me because there was a fight in the backlines and I arrived 11th. In the final we made some changes, but starting from the 10th position it was always difficult especially because in the final there was accident and pushes in each bends. It is difficult to overtake with these conditions, also if you are extremely fast.”

Matias Laine - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1
“In the first final I wasn’t fast enough to recover positions and to end well the race, there was a lot of bagarre and also accident in front of me. In the final the engine worked extremely well and I thought I could win, but after that there was a bad accident and many contacts which changed many drivers positions. It was a fight, a very particular race.”

Marco Ardigò - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KZ2
“Today the race was spoiled by the many accidents which occurred in the final, Bressan was also involved in a bad accident, fortunately without serious consequences.
It was a race full of contacts and I think that it is not nice to see a race like this one. In every lap there were drivers abandoning the race.
My race was spoiled by a rival, who had the great idea to overtake two drivers in the same bend and, even though he is an expert driver, he got into trouble.”
