Tony Kart and Vortex gained the victory in KZ2 and in KF2 on occasion of the 4th round of the WSK

After a long rest lasted over two months to give space to the important CIK-FIA events, the WSK International Series restarted in north-east Belgium on Genk international circuit. On this occasion, the two cadet categories KF3 and KF2 and the powerful shifter class KZ2 played the leading role.

In the 4th Round of WSK Series, Tony Kart and Vortex got great results both in KZ2 and in KF2.
On the 1.350 meters of the Horensbergdam International Circuit, Tony Kart got two important successes, thanks to Marco Ardigò, who stepped onto the highest position of the podium in KZ2, and Ben Cooper, the English driver of the Tony Kart Junior Team, who got the leadership in KF2. Also in the third class racing there, the KF3 category, Tony Kart got great satisfaction from the well-deserved second position reached by the Brazilian Guilherme Silva, Tony Kart Junior Team driver.

KZ2 the circuit in Genk didn’t save any surprise for Ardigò and Catt. Our staff rapidly found the best chassis set-up, also in the changeable asphalt conditions.
At the end of the qualifying, Ardigò and Catt centered the 5th and the 8th time respectively. In the rounds, the team worked with determination, improving the technical potential of their material in view of the finals, enabling Ardigò to conquer the first row in race-1 thanks to a first, second and third position obtained in the rounds. Catt, with a second, a third and a tenth, started from the seventh position in race-1.
The final was characterized by an uncertain phase, before the starting signal due to the umpteenth shower of rain. In this difficult situation, the driver who was starting from the first position, Lammers, got his own starting position inverted, so that he could start on the dry side of the track.
At the starting light, although he was on the least favourable side, our Marco Ardigò exploited at his best the excellent material at his disposal, his kart and his Vortex RVX engine. Ardigò took the lead at the first bend and sprang forward to the victory. The race was a lonely ride for our standard bearers, ended by Ardigò with an advantage of 8”101 on the second driver, Francesco Laudato.
This result allows Ardigò to get close to the leader in the rating, Lammers, and enables the Tony Kart Racing Team to climb the Euro Cup rating substantially.

In the KF2 category, at the end of the qualifying race, the drivers racing a Racer EVR who placed in the top ten were six, among them Smarrazzo (3rd), Lock (7th), Kanamaru (8th) and Cooper (10th).
The driver of our partner team Tony Kart Junior Team, Ben Cooper, won the race, for our drivers the wet asphalt and the first bend have been unfavourable.
Smarrazzo, sprung forward to the second row in race-1, was involved in a crash at the first bend and started from the backlines. Also Kanamaru had an accident in the final, which didn’t allow him to obtain precious points.
We have to stress how the successes of the weekend in Genk have been obtained with two models, in KZ2 Marco Ardigò had an excellent Krypton KRX at his disposal, in KF2 Ben Cooper reached the victory thanks to his fantastic Racer EVR; this proves how high is the technical potential and versatility of all our products.

PROTAGONISTS COMMENT

Giacomo Aliprandi Team Manager Tony Kart Racing Team
“The victory in KZ2 was reached in uncertain asphalt conditions, in spite of this, we have been protagonists since the first moment, so I am very satisfied with the results we got.
We worked no-stop in the previous weeks to prepare in the best way this WSK race and the KZ1 European Championship, taking place at the end of June in Wackersdorf, Germany. Besides the victory we conquered, I am always very interested in the work our partner teams carry out and I am pleased in noting that, as well as our official drivers, the ratings are crowded of Tony Kart-Vortex in the top positions. This is clearly proved by the success of the KF2 driver Cooper and the second position of the KF3 driver Silva. Also this aspect is very important for us because the work of the Racing Team is carried out according to our partners. Being able to offer such great quality products to everyone is a success into the success.”

Marco Ardigò - Tony Kart Racing Team official driver KZ2 category
“This has been an important success we pursued and deserved, conquered together with the whole team. The start on the wet side of the track was the critical moment. I started very well, my kart had a perfect drive also in those conditions and at the first bend I took the lead and I raced always at the top.I never gave up, until the last moment, everything was that perfect that I centered my best lap exactly at the final phase of the race.
Now the championship is completely open.”
