TONY KART RACING TEAM ON THE PODIUM IN PORTIMAO
In the opening round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, our Joseph Turney is second in OK class, behind another Tony Kart-Vortex. Victory for a Racer 401 RR chassis also in OKJ category.
The Tony Kart Racing Team is not caught unprepared on the occasion of the first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. At the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve of Portimão, in Portugal, our Tony Kart Racer 401 RRs, running in the OK and OKJ classes, powered by the Vortex DST / DJT engines designed and manufactured by the "engine division" of the OTK Kart Group, train for the opening round of the FIA Karting European Championship at their best, scheduled in two weeks on the same Portuguese track.
In OK, the new champion of the WSK Super Master Series Joseph Turney signs an excellent sequence of results during the qualifying heats, collecting a total of two victories, two podiums and three fastest laps. Same trend also in the super heat of Sunday morning, with the British driver signing again the best lap of the race and finishing second. In the final, Turney shows off an excellent race rhythm, climbs not less than 6 positions from the starting grid and ends the Portuguese weekend with a positive second place, behind another Tony Kart-Vortex, Artem Severiukhin’s (Ward Racing).
Four of our Racing Team drivers finish the final in the Top 10. Luigi Coluccio steadily runs in the top positions throughout the race weekend and also signs a victory in the qualifying heats. In the final ranking, the Italian driver is our second best placed driver, behind Turney and ahead of Juho Valtanen and Tuukka Taponen. Regularly involved with our team in the shifter cateogry this year, Valtanen shows to have a good potential also in the "Senior" class and obtains good results (including two fastest laps) in all the races, while the World champion in force, Taponen, hits two victories and three fastest laps between the eliminatory heats and the super heat. Keanu Al Azhari attends the Sunday afternoon's final, after a series of good results in the qualifying heats.
The apprenticeship in the category continues for James Egozi, while Liu Ruiqi, Oscar Wurz and Kuba Rajski grind out important kilometres in view of the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship.
In OKJ, a category always won by a Racer 401 RR powered by Vortex, Kirill Dzitiev’s (Ward Racing), Jan Przyrowski is our best representative during the weekend. The Polish driver achieves a fourth place as best result in the qualifying heat and, by a handful of positions, comes close to the Top 10 in the final. At his second race with our colours, Arthur Dorison takes advantage of every opportunity during the final to succeed in a significant recovery of 17 positions. Jimmy Helias is also growing, as easily enters the final.
Not much luck, instead, for Enzo Tarnvanichkul: the Thai driver opens the eliminatory heats with a third place, but a stop in the super heat of Sunday morning compromises his chance to attend the final. Alp Hasan Aksoy, Giacomo Pedrini and Maria Germano Neto make progress and get ready for the next appointments of the calendar.
Our Tony Kart Racing Team stays in Portugal. The Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve hosts, on the weekend of April 7th-10th, the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship, reserved to the OK and OKJ classes.
