Tony Kart: victory at Viterbo for the Racer 401 T
Our Racing Team attends the third round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, in view of the next round of the FIA Karting European Championship. In Italy, the Racer 401 T chassis wins the OKJ category final.
After a long time abroad, the Tony Kart Racing Team comes back to Italy for the third round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. At the Leopard Circuit Viterbo, where our colours showed off last March with the victory in OK class on the fifth round of the WSK Super Master Series, our team takes to the track again, as usual, with the Tony Kart Racer 401 T, powered by the VTS (OK) and VTJ (OKJ) engines branded Vortex Engines, the ‘engine division’ of OTK Kart Group.
In OKJ, thanks to the the podium obtained in the recent round of Portimão, valid for the FIA Karting European Championship, Ilie Tristan Crisan is constantly at the top of the category throughout the weekend: in the qualifyings, in fact, he is the second fastest in group 1 and in the next qualifying heats he scores two victories and a fastest lap, in addition to placing twice in the top-3. After finishing third in Saturday morning's Super Heat A, the Canadian driver has a difficult start in the final, but remains in contention for a top result throughout the race, which ends with the victory of a Tony Kart Racer 401 T.
Tough performances also for the two rookies Julian Frasnelli and Mateo Rivals. The Italian driver is among the top ten in the combined qualifying rankings and records a third place as his best result in the qualifying heat, while the French driver finishes behind his teammate in Saturday afternoon's final. Oliveri Sini and Henri-Constant Kumpen are getting closer and closer, but both miss the last race of the weekend, which sees 92 drivers at the starting grid.
In OK category, Jindřich Pešl makes his return to Viterbo after his victory in the last round of the WSK Super Master Series. The Czech driver obtains the second best time in Group 2 of the qualifying heats and collects a victory, two second places and a fastest lap in the heats. After finishing fourth in Saturday morning's Super Heat B, Pešl jumps from the fifth row in the final, but a collision in the very early stages of the race forces him to stop prematurely.
Thomas Pradier also starts well the weekend with a third place in the group of the chrono trials, followed by a victory and two second places in the eliminatory heats. With the third place in Super Heat A, the French driver secures a fifth place for the final, but some early fights prevent him from aiming for an important placing.
Gino Rocchio and Oliver Rasmussen steadily improve their performances during the Italian event, getting one step closer to the final.
The Tony Kart Racing Team will stay at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo for another week, as the Italian circuit will host the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship reserved for OK and OKJ categories (June 5th – 8th).
