Tony Kart close to the podium at the european champ in Sarno
On the occasion of the FIA Karting European Championship reserved for the shifter categories held in Italy, our Racer 401 RR finishes the KZ2 Masters final in fourth position with Andre Nicastro.
The Tony Kart Racing Team's season continues at the Naples International Circuit in Sarno (Italy), stage of the FIA Karting European Championship’s second round for the KZ and KZ2 categories and of the sole event for the KZ2 Masters. The Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, powered by the Vortex VTZ engine (the ‘engine division’ of OTK Kart Group), ends the weekend very close to a podium placing.
In KZ2 Masters, Andre Nicastro and Roberto Profico get familiar with the track during the free practice and the qualifyings, to progressively improve their performance in the following scheduled heats. The ‘Masters’ drivers run the super heat on Saturday afternoon, collecting the last precious technical information in view of Sunday's final. It is right in the last race of the weekend that Nicastro show off: after having kept his position in the first laps, the Brazilian driver proves to have a superior driving pace than the drivers in front of him and, after a recovery of eight positions, finished closed to the podium. The providence was different for Profico, who is forced to retire halfway through the race after an encouraging start.
In KZ, Tom Leuillet is our main representative during the Italian event. The French driver sets the fifth best time in the qualifyings, one tenth of a second away from the pole and keeps the same position in the intermediate ranking at the end of the qualifying heats. In Sunday's final, Leuillet steadily runs the fifth place and finishes the race in the top-10.
After being the best of our drivers in the super heat, Francesco Celenta closes the final behind his teammate Leuillet. Also positive in the super heat, Lorenzo Camplese prematurely finishes the last race on Sunday. Finally, a collision on the first lap compromises the final result of Marijn Kremers.
In KZ2 class, once again, Nicola Rossini is our only driver at the starting grid of the category. The Italian driver works closely with our team and improves his driving skill at each session. However, this is not enough to get his access to the final.
