Tony Kart competitive at the world championship for OK-OKJ in Sweden
On the Kristianstad circuit, our Racer 401 T steadily ranks high in the Junior and Senior categories of the FIA Karting World Championship, thanks to a strong team performance by the Racing Team.
The curtain falls on the 2025 edition of the FIA Karting World Championship reserved for the OK and OKJ categories, held at the Åsum Ring in Kristianstad, Sweden. Our Tony Kart Racing Team is at the starting line with the Tony Kart Racer 401 T, ranking among the top five in the ‘Junior’ final (paired with the Vortex VTJ) and confirming, overall, good performances also among the “Seniors”, together with the VTS engine from the OTK Kart Group's ‘engine division’.
In OKJ, after finishing the Champions of the Future Euro Series season in third place, Ilie Tristan Crisan is back on track in Kristianstad with the chance to aim for a leading role. The Canadian driver, in fact, started the weekend positively with the second fastest time in group 4 of Friday's qualifying, a result accompanied by two second places in the subsequent qualifying heats of the day. Thanks also to a victory and a top-3 finish in Saturday's eliminatory heats, Crisan confirmed his place at the top of the intermediate standings and, with a solid second place in Sunday morning's Super Heat A, earned third place on the starting grid for the final. In the decisive race, a complicated start due to the battle for the top positions slowed him down. However, his excellent pace in the later stages of the race was enough to secure a top-five finish.
After a series of improving results in recent races, Henri-Constant Kumpen showed his talent in qualifying with third place in Group 2, then consolidated his top-10 position in the intermediate standings with two third places and a fast lap in the qualifying heats. The Belgian driver jumped with a good start in the final, despite starting from the outside, and finished in the top ten. Julian Frasnelli also shone with one win and three podium finishes in the eliminatory heats, although the Super Heat A proved less favourable. The Italian driver finished the final ahead of his teammate Mateo Rivals, who set the fastest lap of the race: a confirmation of his excellent performance in the qualifying heats, where he collected three ‘best laps’.
Having only recently joined the Racing Team, Gilles Herman significantly improved his performance during the Swedish trip and took part in the final. Antonio Reginaldo Pizzonia Neto, Matvei Dergunov and Oliveri Sini made a positive debut in the FIA Karting World Championship.
In OK category, Thomas Pradier narrowly missed out on pole position in Friday's qualifying by just 0.029 seconds, after being the fastest in group 2 in 49.214 seconds. The French driver continued his run with four top-three finishes in the qualifying heats and confirmed his speed in super heat B, finishing behind the top three. Despite starting from the outside line, Pradier remained in the top positions during the early laps of the final, but a close battle with his rivals in the middle stages prevented him from challenging for the lead.
Jindřich Pešl was also among the fastest in the timed practice sessions, thanks to the second fastest time in the first group, but in the qualifying heats he was forced to retire twice, despite two top-three finishes. The Czech rider still took part in the final, alongside his teammate Oliver Rasmussen. Finally, Markas Šilkūnas and Vanesa Šilkūnaitė set some interesting benchmarks over the weekend.
The Tony Kart Racing Team will be back in action in three weeks' time for the second round of the Champions of the Future Shifters in Franciacorta, Italy (1st-4th October).
