Tony Kart files the FIA Karting World Cup
The Tony Kart Racing Team attends for the first time the international event for the OK-N and OK-N Junior categories, held at the Leopard Circuit in Viterbo, Italy.
The third edition of the FIA Karting World Cup OK-N and OK-N Junior categories hosts for the first time the Tony Kart Racing Team among the participants. At the Leopard Circuit in Viterbo, Italy, the sporting division of OTK Kart Group is fielding Tony Kart Racer 401 T karts in both categories, powered by the Vortex VTS-N engines in the Senior and Junior configurations.
In OK-N class, Jenson Eric Burns is at the starting grid, after his victory on the first round of the WSK Final Cup at Franciacorta and his strong performances in the final round of the ACI Italian Karting Championship, held right here in Viterbo. The Australian driver sets the second-fastest time in his free practice session on Friday morning and goes straight to finish third in the first qualifying group. In the subsequent qualifying heats, Burns achieves a third-place finish as his best result and, following a solid performance in the super heat, gaining the seventh place in the provisional standings for Pool 2. However, our driver's final is affected by several collisions in the early stages, which compromise his chances of ending the weekend on a high note.
Making his debut with our racing division, Mike Parhiala shows an excellent pace throughout the weekend, standing out in Saturday morning's warm-up session with the second-fastest time and securing fourth place in the qualifying heats. Following Sunday morning's super heat, the Finnis driver gets a top-10 position in the provisional standings for Pool 2. Alike his teammate Burns, Parhiala is also hampered by the scramble in the early stages of the final, but still manages to finish the race without any particular trouble.
Albert Lapper gains several places during the qualifying heats and shows off in the final with a comeback of eleven places from his starting position. The British driver earns the chance to compete in the FIA Karting World Cup with our team thanks to his victory in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy-Senior, the series promoted by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in which OTK Kart Group supplies all participants with chassis and engines of its own manufacture.
Andrea Giudice jumps with a good start in the qualifying heats, but a retirement in the final heat complicates his path. Newcomer Riccardo Repetto progressively improves his performance throughout the event.
In the OK-N Junior class, Can Günfer Tüzüner and Valentino Manassero achieve some encouraging results in the qualifying heats, despite a difficult second heat for both of them. Giuseppe Noviello, on the other hand, sets some impressive times in several sessions over the weekend.
The Tony Kart Racing Team's next event will be the FIA Karting World Championship OK-OKJ, scheduled to take place in Muro Leccese, Italy, from November 5th to 8th .
